A person's identity follows him/her during the whole time that he/she is employed at an enterprise. Naturally during this time, this person will make career and his/her security clearance changes over time.

It is, thus, not only important to implement an Enterprise Directory, but also to make sure that entries in this Directory can be made based on a proper Enterprise Process. This Process starts when head count is identified, and ends well after a person leaves the Enterprise.

With this electronic identity, this person should have access to certain systems, while other systems are off-grounds for him/her. This can be ceptured in what is called Access Control Lists, that allow, when implemented across all IT Systems in an Enterprise, fine-grained control over what contents is accessible to which identities.

If all applications and websites in your Enterprise share this common Access Control List, data security becomes an easy problem to tackle.

To this end, ITPassion has developed an appliance that can be used to manage identities and the Enterprise Access Control List. The appliance is build around a DeLL PowerEdge^TM 1950 III rackable server with 2 Quad Core CPUs, 4GB of Memory and four RAID1 mirrored Hard Disks.

This system runs a RedHat Enterprise Linux 5+ server edition. A combination of the following software can be added to suite your unique requirements:

• Enterprise Directory Master Server (Should be on separate hardware from the Slave Server)
• Enterprise Directory Slave Server (Should be on separate hardware from the Master Server)
• OpenLDAP Management Suite
• Kerberos5 Key Distribution Center
• Kerberos5 Authentication Service
• Kerberos5 Management Suite

This appliance is available at £6,999.00 excl. 17.5% VAT. One should include a standard 3yr 4-hour SLA contract at a cost of an additional £2,499.00 excl. 17.5% VAT per year. This contract covers both the hardware and the software.
